Christmas card 2

November is here, and Christmas is even closer. I've started thinking about Christmas gifts, and it brought up another idea for a new Christmas card. Big in size, but still with a playful twist to Merry Christmas is Norwegian ("god jul"). The main colour for Christmas is to me red, a nice proper red. That is why I kept it in pure red.

Detail images of the card.

After printing the whole card in red I had to play a bit more with colours. I created a limited edition with green and silver.

  1. They look great! And thanks for sneak peek ;)
I love this blog about print, because I love printed art. Probably because I don't know anything about printing myself, lol.
I've done some calligraphy though, and a lot of drawing/painting. In some ways, printing is the brother of calligraphy, it's all about paper, ink and forms.

Paper...mmmm it comes in a zillion types, each with it's own qualities, which will impact upon the finished work, adding to the intended effect. The smells, the feel of it.
I miss some closeups of the paper and the 'relieff' (N) of the printing process. You know the closeups where you can see the grains of the paper? And maybe more from the process itself, I'm a process nerd ;)
In a digital world it's always interesting to read about analogue processes and related.
    Thnx for sharing :)

  2. Oh thank you so much :D Really glad to hear you love my blog!! Makes me happy!! Then you know about hand work and this kind of printing is that. But thats why I love it:D I've done some calligraphy, just a tiny bit. Before Letterpress actually, and I liked it a lot (just a bit difficult since I'm left handed).

You described the first things I think about. For sure the paper impacts a lot. I've tried to print on and with so much weird stuff. I should write about that soon, thanks for the tip about that:)
I didn't think anyone was interested in that part, I mean the "relieff" or it's more the lock up of the design. My work is not just one piece, is many put together. I will add images where you have close up on the grain! Actually I remembered that have a look here (http://ainabergerud.blogspot.com/2010/09/process-of-my-work.html) I have written about the process. But maybe you want even more? Process is fun:) and analogue is a totally different happy way to work than digital.
Happy to share:) And I will keep on doing it.
